How to convert currency on the checkout page?

Yes, it is possible.

We can only convert at checkout if using Shopify Payments with enabled local currency for markets.

Why do we need to enabled markets?

As per Shopify policies, We are not allowed to make any modifications on the checkout page as of now. So we can't show local currency on checkout if Shopify market is not enabled on store.

How to set up the money formatting?

After installing the app, you will receive guidance on configuring the currency format. Please ensure that you've configured the currency format correctly.

How?

Go to Shopify Settings --> General option
Under the Store currency section, select Change Formatting.
There will be two different money formats i.e. HTML with currency and HTML without currency.

Eg: For USD the default currency format appears as follows:

HTML with currency

Step 1: Go to Shopify -> Online Store -> Themes

Step 2: Select Edit Code on the active theme

Step 3: Select theme.liquid from the left side

Step 4: Search for {% include 'bucks-cc' %} in theme.liquid file and remove it and Save

Step 5: Navigate to Snippets/bucks-cc.liquid and Delete it

Why do you need integration?

BUCKS Currency Converter converts prices on the page as soon as possible (speed—that's our key), but sometimes other apps, like upselling, discounting, or price modification apps, modify the prices on the page, so it needs to be converted again.

Prerequisite*

All the price elements on the page should be wrapped with a span element with a class of money.

The money format with the span wrapper will already be in the store's money format if bucks are installed on the store. So ask the app's developers to format currency using the store's default money format.

How?

You can use the code below on the store to convert the prices on the page manually.

After making updates to the prices, just run the script below.

((window || {}).bucksCC || {}).reConvert && bucksCC.reConvert()

That's it! All prices with the wrapper element will automatically be converted to the user's preferred currency.
